ASD-Stan Logo

ASD-STAN is the European industrial organization entitled by CEN, the European Standards Committee implemented by the European Commission, as sole provider of European Aerospace Standards. Based upon the principles of openness, transparency and consensus, ASD-STAN develops and publishes prEN standards which subsequently, in cooperation with CEN and its 30 member states community, are transformed into EN standards. Whilst prEN standards as valid technical documents are owned, published and sold by ASD-STAN, EN standards are published through the national standards organizations of the CEN member states. The intellectual property rights however remain with ASD-STAN.

The Standards developed between the AIA and ASD-STAN will be published under two different standards organizations using different prefixes.  ASD-STAN will publish the standard under the number EN9300–xxx.  AIA will publish the standard under the number NAS9300–xxx. The content in the EN9300 and NAS9300 documents will be the same.  The differences will be noted in the reference documentation (i.e. for EN9300 Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing will be referenced in ISO 1101 and ISO 16792, and for NAS9300 the same information will be referenced in ASME Y14.5M and Y 14.41). The document formatting etc. will follow that of the respective editorial rules of ASD-STAN and AIA.

In the context of the LOTAR project, ASD-STAN is responsible for:

  • Publishing and distributing its harmonized standard at the regional level.
  • After publication on this regional level, ASD-STAN shall jointly with AIA introduce the harmonized standards into the ISO TC20 process for global recognition as a single document.
